How to Report a Crime

In an emergency where the crime is still taking place, the guidance says to call 999 and ask for the police.

For non-emergencies, the site advises against using 999 so police can prioritise urgent cases.

It notes that most police forces offer a 101 non-emergency number to speak with an officer, report concerns and receive guidance without using the emergency line.
